I spent months getting Jake's bedding ready and I can't believe I haven't shared any photos. I wanted to do an outer space theme. It's not done, but it's getting there!
I made all the bedding, the chevron quilt and all the pillows on the chair. We also printed Jake's six month photos with the puppies and put it on a foam board.
The orange and yellow chevron board says: "I love you to the moon and back, to infinity and beyond and forever and ever."

Fall is HERE!!!
Finally... Fall is here! I was dying with all that hot weather. I usually love summer, but this year... ugh... it was too hot for me!
Well... we're finally all moved in to our new apartment. My mother and father-in-law are home from their mission. They met Jake for the first time and it was a blessed event. I'll post photos this weekend!
I just wanted to pop in and share my new favorite photo of my cutie-Pie Jake! He's getting so big!
His hair looks red in this photo... it's not red though. It's kind of a non color. It is blond sometimes, brown sometimes... and obviously red sometimes. I don't think it wants to commit... Oh.. he's just like his dad! Ha!

As for what we've got going on... well, it's picture season, so we're usually spending our Saturdays taking photos. We are going to fulfill this little fall bucket list though! It should be a great month!
P.S. Jake is going to be Popeye for Halloween!

Happy Anniversary!
Yesterday Dave and I shared our second Anniversary. Our feelings about it... let me quote my husband, "It's only been two years, it feels like 20!" Thanks BABE!
Our "for-real" feelings are nothing but gratefulness, love, and admiration for the other. Our lives are at a rapid speed of change... we're loving the journey!
I love my husband to death. He's my best friend. Here's to another year darling!

This is what we've been up to...
Dave took this photo of Jake tonight. STEAL MY HEART! Seriously!!! Look at those teeth! This is his first photo where you can really see them! What you don't see is the two top nubs that have been causing this family H-E-double hockey sticks on the top. They've finally broken through, but the kiddo is having a hard time getting back into his bedtime routine. Any suggestions... anyone? Please!!!!
Last week we got out Dave's dad's Miata. I had a senior who wanted to use it in our yard for some senior photos. It was fun to fire it up and drive it around the neighborhood. Of course Miley had to jump in for a ride. I think she sat in the car for an hour. (P.S. Miley is only 4... If the gray hair is making you worry about her being on death's door... you have nothing to worry about. She has plenty of time left to terrorize my nephews and nieces and anyone else who comes to my house.)![]() |

A few weeks ago I had my mom babysat my nephews over at my house. They made cupcakes. Pretty dang adorable! Jake loves when his cousins come to visit. Except Jake might have a minor complex cause my nephew J kept asking why Jake's head was so big. Poor kid!

I know what it looks like... the Davenports are out of control with their cupcake parties and Miley Pepper Miata rides around the neighborhood... don't let the photos fool you! Here's what we've really been up to:
In preparation for our big move we had a few furniture pieces we needed. We set aside money to invest in something nice, but then thought, why not take a creative approach... like a Craigslist type of approach. I found a set of end tables... In great condition, although my friend Tina and I risked our lives and health to get the suckers. The guy who sold them to us was a chain smoking, heart broken dude who was ready to up and leave town... So... we got these puppies for $20 each. Nice right?!!!
Don't you love the dust? Those are probably cigarette ashes...
I really like the shape of the end tables but decided we wanted to paint them so they matched our furniture. Here you can see what they looked like before and after we painted them white. Please note that the before picture was taken in perfect lighting and my after photo kind of sucks. They really do look great!
Our second big piece of furniture we needed was a tv stand. We looked everywhere. I wanted something that had a little bit of storage and was high enough to keep sticky fingers of the enormous tv we have. A cheap simple stand wouldn't do. We had to have something sturdy so if a baby decided to pull himself up with it could do so without that enormous tv landing on him. We looked forever and then one day I stumbled across a Craigslist listing for a dresser and end tables. My friend was looking for end tables for her bedroom, so it worked out perfect! With a little paint and a little tweaking, we turned the dresser into this! Only $60. We painted it black and spray painted the handles silver, took out the middle drawer and that was it! (sorry about the blurry photo... it was taken with my phone)

Here is Tina's before and after photo of her end table:
As an addition to our Craigslist purchases, we also bought this bad boy! It won't be getting any paint for a while. It was a steal and we needed a dresser for our bedroom. It comes with three large mirrors (only pictured with one). It was $100. It was a great deal! (Oh... TV not included... plus... we don't need anymore at our house!)

I don't have photos of Jake's crib bedding I finished but here is a photo of a project I made out of a regular ole' cardboard box. I figured I'd rather Jake pull books out a box than off a shelf. Its easier clean up too! I love how it turned out. It's simple but has accents of the stuff his crib betting was made out of... the solar system. I found the idea and tutorial on Pinterest.
As you can see, we've been very busy. With a teething child, house sitting and all this stuff we've got on our 4 page to-do list, we're one busy little family!

Life is stressful... but being Jake's mom makes it all worth it!
Well... I woke up this morning WISHING it was Friday... nope... it's Thursday! I'm one tired little chicka! Things are getting busy in the Davenport household! What's keeping us preoccupied? You mean... what's keeping you so preoccupied Christy... (that sounds about right)!! Ha! Well... Let me list what's happening!
First, Dave and I decided it was time to buy a new car. By new I mean "newer than my 1990 Honda Accord"... We looked into a bunch of cars and decided we wanted a PT Cruiser. I never in a million years ever thought I'd want a PT Cruiser. They're so odd looking... and functional?! Really?!!! OHMIGOSH... they are amazing! So... Dave and I went PT Cruiser shopping. We found a few... and then.. we found the ONE! Oh... bright cobalt blue... 70,000 miles... for $5,500? Really?!! What a steal. So... we buy the thing! One exception... they had to replace a sensor. NO big deal right? Well, the sensor didn't connect to the computer which meant they had to replace the computer. It was put in our contract that they had to replace and reprogram the computer which was great because we weren't liable to pay for it. Two Saturdays ago, I took our new PT Cruiser to the Larry Miller Dodge dealership to get the computer replaced. Jake and I waited 2 1/2 hours. Keep in mind, Jakey pooped all over himself (literally... I had to throw away his onesy) only to be told the Cruiser wouldn't connect to the new computer. So... We had to wait 2 more days for a new computer to arrive and be installed. Ugh... but okay. Tuesday rolls around... 2nd new computer won't connect as well. Double UGH... EXCEPT... they put the old one back in which had nothing wrong with it and worked great! We reluctantly pick up the Cruiser, take it home, start it up the next morning and the stinking engine light came on. So... needless to say, I made the dealership give us back our money. SUCH a BUMMER!!! So... we're waiting a few more months to look again.
Second, Photography is back in full swing! There's not a lot to say about this other than it takes up my Saturdays and I have a lot to do around my house because...
Third, Dave's parents are going to be returning from their mission in a couple of months. You know what that means, right? We have to pack our stuff and get out! Okay... that sounds a little harsh... my mother-in-law offered to let us stay if we wanted, but we feel like its time for us to move on. We found brand new apartments being built that are SO nice... The price is right, the size is perfect (I'm looking for small!!!), its right off the freeway and close enough to our amazing daycare... It's awesome! Now.. if I can get my non-committal husband to agree (which he kind of already did...) we'll get this thing signed, sealed and pack'n! We'll be the proud renters of a new apartment, ha ha! For us, that's pretty impressive...
So... that means we have two months to get our stuff organized, packed and ready to go and my in-law's stuff back in perfect place. We've occupied almost every room in that house. It's ridiculous... and you know I have a mental "to do" list swirling around in my head which STRESSES me out... I finally sat down and made an actual To Do list. 4 pages worth of CRAP! It's kind of scary! With photography and two weekends of house-sitting... we'll have to squeeze as much work into the few weekends we've got left. If you asked Dave about this... he'd probably just roll his eyes at me! He'll thank me when everything is organized and ready to go in September! Right?!!!
Fourth... we have silly things to do... for instance, I bought two end-tables off from Craigslist. They need to be painted. I also am in the middle of finishing up Jakey's crib bedding. It's turning out so ADORABLE and once it's all finished, I'll be sure to post some photos. His room, once we move will be amazing. I can't wait! Oh... and like I mentuned before, we have two weekends of house-sitting...
I saw this on Pinterest... it made me laugh... only because it adds to my list of stresses:
Now that I'm done stressing everyone else out, I can tell you... from the bottom of my heart.. this little face takes every ounce of stress away! I cannot help myself!!! Those cheeks... TO DIE FOR! I promise... every stress I have ever taken on.. is all worth it because of this little guy. Oh.. and Dave. He's cool too. Ha ha!! (LOvE you Babe!)!!

Zoo Boise
The law firm I work at rented out Zoo Boise for the night. It was so much fun! We started by having hamburgers, then... we were off! We saw the butterfly exhibit, lions, fed the goats, saw the wallabies, and fed the giraffes. It was a great evening out!
***Yes... Jakey's shirt says "I'd Rather Be Naked"... and I don't blame the kid! It was a hot evening!
